Countdown to Reservations End Date
This is a two-day course.
The curriculum is based on the Dental Sedation Teachers’ Group Publication “Training in Conscious Sedation for Dentistry” and the GDC’s “Developing the Dental Team”. The course will provide revision of the relevant biomedical science covered in the latter publication and teaching in the shortfall between the two documents. The didactic and practical teaching on this course should be complemented by supervised clinical practice leading to competency for independent practice. This would normally be achieved after 10 supervised administrations of inhalation sedation, which must be organised in the participants own workplace. SAAD cannot organise supervised clinical practice, and so you will need to provide details of your nominated clinical supervisor(s) at the time of registration. The information you will need to provide is listed below. Please ensure that you can provide all of the required information at the time of registration because we cannot accept your registration without this. The nominated supervisor(s) must be the clinician(s) who will be signing your logbook and DOPS.
1. Name(s) and GDC/GMC number of the person(s) who will be supervising your clinical practice for the completion of your log book and DOPS.
2. The sedation qualifications of the supervisor(s).
3. The sedation experience of your supervisor(s). e.g. how long have they been providing sedation, how many cases and the case mix.
4. An indication of the IHS services offered.
5. The address of the sedation facility
6. A brief description of the facility
