The winners of the 2020 essay prizes received the prize certificates at the AGM.

Edwina D'Souza won the 2020 Drummond Jackson Essay Prize of £750 for her essay 'Epilepsy and conscious sedation: considerations and management'.

Tallulah Darcy Hall was the winner of the 2020 Dental Student Essay Prize of £500 for her essay 'Objectifying the Subjective: Current Success and Novel Advancements in the Assessment of Dental Anxiety'

The 2020 DCP Case Report Prize was awarded jointly to Louise Gallagher for 'A multidisciplinary teams case report' and EmmaLee Robertson for 'When LA alone is not enough'. Both winners received £500.

All of the essays and case reports were published in the 2021 issue of SAAD Digest.

SAAD is at the forefront of postgraduate teaching of sedation techniques in dentistry. The Society runs courses for the whole dental team encouraging the safe provision of conscious sedation. Other activities include providing scientific seminars, giving expert advice to other bodies including the Department of Health and the General Dental Council; providing experts for guidelines and standards documents; giving expert evidence to the courts; promoting research in the field of pain and anxiety control and providing individual support and advice to members. Membership of the society is open to any registered dental or medical practitioner, dental nurse or dental therapist/hygienist.
